"In the tradition of the surrealist exquisite corps project, I grouped secondary freshman together and requested a five minute sketch. Most of these students had not taken an art class before. Encircled, they corporately passed the work for sixty minutes. I did not oversee the drawing, giving them freedom in their narrative choices. The results were very carnivalesque and frequently took on macabre qualities. I appropriated there drawing and their collaborative imagination. After clarifying the sketch I finished the image with ink brush and prisma."-DMS
